Kā era tāua i tēia toka ki te kōropā,
let’s lever this rock up with a crowbar;

Mē oti tēnā rākau ta‘ito i te era, e pātiti i te mea ‘ōu,
when you’ve prized off the old plank, nail on a new one;

Kua erā‘ia te au toka mama‘ata ē kua vāvā‘i‘ia,
the large boulders were prized out and broken up.

E tuku i tēta‘i era ki raro i te ngūtupa kia vai ma‘eu ‘ua,
put a wedge under the door to keep it open.
