ngāvari, v.i.

1. Wobbly, unstable, loose (not firm).

Kua ngāvari te poupou o teia ‘are.
The posts of this house are loose;

Kua ‘akaketaketa ‘aia i te pou o te ‘āua i te ngāvari‘anga te ‘āua.
He firmed in the fence posts when the fence got rickety.

2. Yielding, pliable.

Kua ngavari ‘ua tōna ngā vaevae i te pā‘ī‘ī‘anga.
His legs were rubbery from the hammering (he’d taken.)
