‘īkoke, v.i. Thin (of people and animals), gaunt, skinny, lean.
Kua ‘īkoke tāna au puakatoro nō te rava kore i te kai i roto i te ‘āua.
His cattle got thin because there was insufficient grazing in the paddock;
Ko te va‘ine ā Miri, ‘e va‘ine ‘īkoke ‘ua ē te roa.
Miri’s wife, she’s a tall, quite thin lady;
Nō te ‘īkoke iāia, nō reira au i manako ei ē i maki‘ia ana.
She was so thin that’s why I thought she’s been ill.
