karaka

karaka, n. An inland forest tree (Elaeocarpus tonganus) with tough white timber which does not warp.

Kua tī pū mātou i te karaka i runga i te maunga ē kua tari mai ki te kāinga ‘ei ma‘ani ‘apinga ngutu‘are.
We cut down the karaka on the hill and brought them home to make furniture with.
