maremo, (-a, -‘ia), v.i. Drown, go under.

Kua maremo te va‘ine i te topa‘anga ki roto i te tai, nō te mea kāre ‘aia e kite i te kau.
The woman drowned when she fell into the sea because she couldn’t swim;

Kua manuia kua kitea atu koe e te tangata i te maremo‘anga.
It is lucky that people saw you drowning;

‘Auraka e ‘aere ki te ngā‘i ‘ō‘onu pā‘ī tai ei, ka maremo‘ia koe ākonei.
Don’t go out into deep water to bathe, you might get drowned;

‘E tamaiti maremo tērā i ta‘atai tē rapakau‘ia maī ra e te taote.
There is a boy on the beach who was drowning being treated by a doctor.
