We went and he with us.

2. Indicating concomitant action or state.

Kua tō ma te meitaki te parūnu.
The balloon landed safely;

I ‘aere mai ma te ngere, i ‘oki ma te kī.
(He) came poor and went back prosperous;

Kua ‘akarere ‘aia i tāna manu ma te mou piri ki te taura.
He flew his kite, holding tight to the string;

Kua ‘aruru te māngūngū ma te ‘are katoa i te tūrori‘anga.
The thunder crashed and the whole house shook;
