1. n. A wedge, peg etc. driven in as wedge.

Ka rauka ngō‘ie ‘ua mē kiritia te tia.
It will come out easily if the wedge is taken out;

Pātiā‘ia te tia kia kore tēnā mea e keukeu.
Drive the wedge in to keep it from wobbling about.

2. (tiā‘ia). Wedge something in, drive in a wedge.

Tēia te rākau ‘ei tia i te rākau mē vā‘i.
Here is a wedge to drive into the timber when you split it down;

Kua tia ‘aia i te rākau ki te tia i tōna keke‘anga.
As he sawed, he wedged a peg in to keep the saw-cut open.
